“Kick Off to Oktoberfest” fundraising event on Friday, September 19, 2025-Glendale Sister Cities

Glendale Sister Cities would like to invite you to their inaugural “Kick Off to Oktoberfest” fundraising event on Friday, September 19, 2025. The event will feature The Original Bavarian Brass Band, a 22-piece brass band from their Sister City in Memmingen, Germany! They have performed at Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany as well as here in the United States, especially at numerous locations in Texas. In fact, in Texas, they are lovingly known as the Bavarian Texas Band thanks to the large German population in Texas and the band’s popularity there! This is their first trip to Glendale, and Glendale Sister Cities is excited to introduce them to Glendale and surrounding communities!  You may not know that Oktoberfest in Germany is held in September.  This year it starts on September 20th, so this is Glendale’s way of honoring German tradition by “kicking off” their 2025 Oktoberfest season!

The event will be at the beautiful Glendale Civic Center which has plenty of free parking. The ballroom will include a dance floor which will provide some fun for guests. The ticket price will include a German buffet dinner, and there will be a cash bar featuring German beers, wine, soft drinks and water. A 50/50 raffle and door prizes will also add to the excitement of the evening!

Proceeds from this event will help Glendale Sister Cities to begin building a strong youth program. They want to start by assisting local high school students with the cost to attend international diplomacy and leadership themed conferences, which are held locally, nationally and internationally. In the future, they want to be able to assist students with exchange opportunities.

Currently, Glendale is one of just a few Sister City programs in the West Valley! They revitalized the previous Glendale Sister City program in 2017, and have become members of Arizona Sister Cities and Sister Cities International. They currently have one Sister City in Memmingen, Germany and hope to recruit several more cities in the next couple of years.

Ticket sales are being handled through Eventbrite.  There is an Early Bird price of $40.00 if you purchase by July 31st!  After that, tickets will be $45.00.

Reserved tables for 10 are also available. To purchase tickets, go to their website www.glendaleazsistercities.organd click the purchase tickets button. Or, you may use the QR code on the flyer.
