Sierra Vista is a southern Arizona natural wonderland. It is situated close to the Mexican border and is home to such attractions as Kartchner Caverns State Park, The Nature Conservancy’s Ramsey Canyon, the Coronado National Monument, plus numerous parks and hiking trails. There is also Fort Huachuca, Tombstone, and Bisbee. Within 45 minutes you can find yourself in the southern Arizona wine country. And of course there many attractions along the way in Tucson, like San Xavier Mission, U of A, Saguaro National Park, and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Make it a long weekend and enjoy a parts of Arizona you may not yet have experienced.
The State Conference will begin Friday evening, for a casual “meet and greet” where we will meet Sierra Vista dignitaries and members of their Sister City Program. Sierra Vista has a very active Sister City program with Radebuhl, Germany and Cananea, Mexico, which is less than an hours drive. They also have a very strong student exchange program. We will then meet dignitaries from Sister City, Cananea, some of whom will be there to greet us. Cananea is a large mining town rich with copper and it is in the process of becoming a significant wine region. Saturday meetings will run until about 2 p.m. and will include Sister City sharing and several training sessions. Reservation and agenda information will be forthcoming.
