Glendale Sister Cities Board of Directors has remained active during the pandemic. We have met all but one month this past year, sometimes virtually but in person whenever possible. We have used this time to update our brochure and bylaws as well as develop new-city marketing and recruiting strategies. We also rekindled our relationship with Memmingen, Germany and have stayed connected to our local membership with several socially distanced meetings, even adding three new members! The letter writing project we initiated between children in a Glendale school and a school in our Sister City, Ørland, Norway, was completed just prior to the pandemic.

Glendale Sister Cities just held a small but successful fundraiser on February 25th, at the Spicery Restaurant in historic downtown Glendale. It was our third annual Breakfast for Dinner event. Owner, Matt Borowski, worked hard to help us make this a special but socially distanced evening for everyone.
We are already looking forward to planning our fourth annual event in February 2022. Looking ahead, we hope to be able to hold an event during Octoberfest 2021 at Haus Murphy in Glendale to celebrate our renewed relationship with Memmingen. Glendale Sister Cities had a trip planned to Memmingen in May 2021, but this has been postponed to sometime in 2022.
